چکیده
We propose an efficient solution to optimize buffer dumping allowing to reduce significantly the losses caused by buffer overflow. To highlight the proposed architecture we have analyzed its performance compared with different configurations of polling scheme.

Per-flow Queuing Memory Management without Per-flow Queues in High Speed Routers
Packet buffering in high speed routers requires a memory management unit to maintain the structure of the queues. With the dramatic increase in link speed and number of traffic flows, per-flow queuing becomes more and more challenging for the memory management unit since millions of queues should be maintained. To address this issue, a scheme called Dynamic Queue Sharing (DQS) is proposed in th...

For the first time, the 4- and 5-port optical routers are designed by using the West First routing algorithm for use in optical network on chip. The use of the WF algorithm has made the designed routers to provide non-blocking routing in photonic network on chip. These routers not only are based on high speed Mach-Zehnder switches(Which have a higher bandwidth and more thermal tolerance than mi...

متن کاملA study of fairness among heterogeneous TCP variants over 10 Gbps high-speed optical networks
Several high-speed TCP variants are adopted by end users and therefore, heterogeneous congestion control has become the characteristic of newly emerging high-speed optical networks. In contrast to homogeneous TCP flows, fairness among heterogeneous TCP flows now depends on router parameters such as queue management scheme and buffer size. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of...
متن کاملUltra High Speed Packet Buffering using “Parallel Packet Buffer”
Modern switches and routers often use dynamic RAM (DRAM) in order to provide large buffer storage space. However, the effective bandwidth of DRAM is frequently a limiting factor in the design of high-speed switches and routers. The focus of this paper is to introduce a packet-buffering architecture called the parallel packet buffering (PPB), which increases the effective memory bandwidth signif...
